Schwarzenegger gets tough with republicans, issues a press release

Clearly stung by Sheila Kuehl's harsh assessment of his gubernatorial prowess in the previous Friendly Fire post (hey, it could happen) in state budget battle of the stars, the Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger strikes back with a strongly worded press release. Doh!

"I am calling on Republican senators to come together and pass this budget. I have committed to a zero operating deficit - I will use my executive authority to ensure fiscal responsibility in state spending," said Governor Schwarzenegger.

Oooo, take that you GOP feet draggers. Or not. Considering how the state's Republican legislators have ignored the governator so far in this budget fight, you can be sure all this "calling on" won't add up to much unless he backs it up with a little coercive muscle -- or at least a well-placed grope.
