Government at its best ... and its worst

| | Comments (1) |

Reader Dante has commented about today's two Daily News editorials -- Government at its best ... and at its worst. The pair compare the heroism and the planning of those fighting the wildfires to the cowardice and the cunning of those who arranged the $95,000 payoff for fired bureaucrat Gloria Jeff. Above are the links -- enjoy.

In this morning paper two headlines caught my attention. "JOBS NOT ALWAYS WAITING FOR VETS" and "HERE LIES MAYTAG AN AMERICAN ICON". Two downers in one day. Maytag went to Mexico and 4,500 people lost their jobs for ever and ever. It won't be long for the nonunion factory in Clyde, Ohio (still functioning under Maytag's tattered flag) to follow the trend and..."Buenos dias, yankees jobs!. Bienvenidos" For our vets, the outcome is even worse. Brenda Piedra, a veteran from Iraq had to go back (as a civilian) to that Inferno to get a job...because she could not find anything here! Boy oh boy! That is really sending a good message to our people still fighting in that areas! Go ahead, boys and girls! Spill your guts and limbs for...for...for...oops! Do you remember why our people are engaged there? What? To catch Osama? Osama who???
