Obama love

Since my blog entry last week, and a version of it in today's paper on my conversion to Obamanism I've talked to many other people who've been on that proverbial fence as well and found themselves, almost against their will, falling for Barack Obama. At least I'm not the only one...

I’VE had a change of heart.

Just hours after I confidently cast my ballot in the auditorium of Logan Elementary School for Hillary Clinton, the misgivings began. I blame CNN and DirectTV and all the Gods of Television because without them, Sen. Barack Obama would not have been able to cast his spell on me.

His 20-minute-long “Our Time Has Come” speech wasn’t among the best I’ve heard, nor even his personal best. But it was incomparable to those from the three other presidential front-runners that night. I shivered with presentiment, and a bit of regret, as it seemed at that particular point in time that Hillary was the big winner. “What have I done?” I thought. What had all of us done?

This was the man who was meant to be the next president, and it seemed our fears and prejudices and just plain political cynicism had gotten in the way.

Yes, it seems like everyone is for Obama. Why? Because he gives great speeches, of course! And we all know that race has no place in this election, but wouldn't it be cool to nominate an African-American?

I'd point towards Obama's extensive experience in national and international politics, except he has none. I'd point to his military-related experience to give an indication as to how well he would function as commander in chief, except he has none. Last but not least we could examine how his experience has prepared him to deal with our economy, except there is no such experience.

But he does give great speeches.

I can't understand the media's intent on selling an Obama presidency, but it is there. In a state where less than 500 votes were cast in the democratic primary, he was cast as the "big" winner. It happened again in Utah, even though the votes for Mitt Romney alone were more than those for Obama and Clinton combined.

So here we are with a collapsing economy and wars on two fronts, and a bunch of people are just giddy about handing the presidency to someone with no experience.

Why? Well like I said....
