Way to go, San Francisco
The city by the bay became the first in the nation to ban plastic bags at large grocery stores today.
The Los Angeles City Council briefly toyed with the idea a while ago, but the idea never got past committee. Too bad, because plastic bags are the single most prevelant item of trash uglying up Los Angeles. They clog up our storm drains, our parks, the vegetation in the L.A. river, the landfills and the empty lots. Maybe it's time for that idea to be revived.
