Prop 7, How I'm Voting

| | Comments (0)

Prop 7:

Like I said with Prop 10, I would love to support a ballot initiative that would start California on the road to clean energy in the form of more solar and wind. But there is so much extra stuff written into this plan that it feels almost like they wrote it to fail. It's too expensive for California at a time when we hardly have a state budget in place and people struggle to pay for basic needs. I hope they try again and this plan morphs into something we can all support. Click HERE to read about Prop 7.

Prop 10 - My Opinion

Prop 10:

As much as I would love to see a ballot initiative that helps consumers purchase high fuel economy vehicles and fund research for alternative fuel technology and renewable energy technology.  After reading all the proposition facts, along with the pros and cons. It seems to me that as much as I would love to see all these initiatives come to fruition, his prop just seems too costly at a time when California is having a severe budget crisis. Here is the LINK take a peek and let me know what you think.

Coming tomorrow Prop 7.

I know that I have bugged you about this before, more than once I'm sure. But here goes...don't throw your E-waste in the garbage. Why, you ask? Many of our safe, common household electronics contain hazardous materials that are toxic when put into landfills and released into our environment.

If you live in the Simi Valley area your in luck, they are holding a free E-Waste recycling day on October 18 between 9 and 3 at Simi Valley Unified School District Parking lot. The district is located at 875 Cochran Street in Simi Valley.

So get together your old TVs, cell phones, monitors and computers and drop them off. It's the right thing to do. It's the environmentally conscience thing to do. Click HERE for more info.

About this blog

Roxanne Kotzman is a Daily News Photo Department veteran of nine years. When she and longtime friend Stacy Long discovered their love all of all things environmentally responsible, they launched Happy Monkey Planet and jumped head-first into the vibrant eco-community.

Wow, so much to learn! But initially the idea is a pretty simple one: Let's change the world through information, education and action.

Rox & Stacy are a lot like you: ecologically minded but sometimes just plain overwhelmed when charged with the task of making a far-reaching difference in the environment. They have jobs, families, homes, lives and pets.

But what if doing better was a simple as a light-bulb change, a reusable canvas grocery bag, recycling that soda can or a cold-water wash?

These eco-chicks just hope to have a little fun, learn a little more, share a lot of information and maybe make the planet a happier, greener, cleaner place.
