Elayna's mother, Kristina Beserra, said she doesn't usually react to stimulus and has, "never seen her react like this" refering to how much she was smiling when she met Elmo and Zoe. He has won numerous state and national awards, including an international NPPA Best of Photojournalism award in 2003 and Best News Photo from the Los Angeles Press Club in 2010.
