Don't Park on My Street! ... please

20090827-PN29-SIGN01-JG.jpgThis sign, and others like it, line the south side of the 5700 blcok of Parkcrest Street. The notices, requesting that visitors park elsewhere, feature a city logo and a Parks and Rec logo. According to 5th. District councilwoman Gerri Shipske
it's not an official sign and it is illegal to post things on trees and utility poles.

The Parkcrest neighbors are the proverbial squeaky wheel. Why these homeowners think Heartwell Park is their front yard is beyond comprehension. Their complaints about parking and noise have affected youth and high school sports to the detriment of events like the Long Beach Invitational, a cross country event that drew thousands of runners from around southern California. Soccer is a dirty word along Parkcrest, too. Yet somehow baseball isn't. Hypocrisy, thy name is Parkcrest Street.
