Art installer Steve Sherwood hangs artwork created by pediatric patients in the new 4-story, 124,000 square-foot inpatient pavilion at Miller Children's Hospital in Long Beach, Calif. on November 24, 2009. The expansion is set to open late next month. The building sits next to the hospital's current building. The new inpatient pavilion will include a state-of-the-art pediatric imaging center and a pediatric surgery center. Banning High Social Studies teacher Matt Seanlon brought some of his students to join a protester during the Long Beach (Calif.) City Council meeting Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The protesters are asking councilmembers to protest the settlement between the Long Beach port and the American Trucking Association (a deal signed last week that extracts Long Beach from a federal court case scheduled for December).
