LONG BEACH, CALIF. USA -- Sailors launch their sail boats at the start of the Model Boat Regatta at Colorado Lagoon in Long Beach, Calif. on August 12, 2011. About 40 youngsters spent the summer building the model boats that vary in size from 12 inches to 30 inches. The end-of-summer model boat race has been a tradition in the lagoon since the late 1940s. LONG BEACH, CALIF. USA -- Singer Jenska Ryyppa on August 11, 2011, in Long Beach, Calif. Ryyppa is a native of Finland came to Long Beach in 1997 and was part of a popular alt-rock group "Telecast" for several years. Her first CD under her own name comes out later this month and she will debut it in a special performance at Kelly's on August 20.
