he Plastiki is back in Long Beach after an 8,000 nautical-mile voyage across the Pacific to Australia by environmentalist and adventurer David De Rothschild. De Rothschild, 31, set off in March to call attention to ocean pollution and nudge individuals and corporations into changing their use of plastic and other materials.

Rothschild and a 5-member crew sailed the strange-looking 60 foot vessel up

He has won numerous state and national awards, including an international NPPA Best of Photojournalism award in 2003 and Best News Photo from the Los Angeles Press Club in 2010.
