For Kenseth, wins are all that matters
Matt Kenseth finished seventh in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race at California Speedway. But it didn't mean much.
Kenseth came into the race as one of five Cup drivers who have already clinched a spot in the Chase. About the only thing he could do in the two races before the Chase starts is to win one and improve his seeding in the Chase standings.
"No matter where you finish, unless you win, you always hope for better, but it was kind of frustrating," said Kenseth, driver of the No. 17 Ford for Roush Fenway Racing. "We took off at the beginning of the race and pretty much drove to the front and thought we had a pretty competitive car and as the track changed and the day went on, we just kept getting farther and farther off and couldn't figure it out."
Kenseth has one Cup win this year. It came in the February race at California Speedway. He has gone 23 races without a win and is one of six drivers in the top 12 with only one win.
