Buckboard Days roll out in Rowland

The sound of trumpets and drums, the whirl of dancers, the low purr of a classic car as it
cruises by, the smell of popcorn with a hint of autumn in the air – all these sights and sounds could only mean one thing – it’s time for the Rowland Heights Buckboard Days Parade!

One of the community’s longest traditions, the 37th annual Buckboard Days Parade will march down the streets of Rowland Heights on Saturday. The parade begins at 9 a.m. led by the parade’s Grand Marshal, Assemblyman Bob Huff.

The parade will begin at the intersection of Nogales Street and Colima Road,
then head east on Colima Rd., north on Banida Ave., and then end at Rowland Heights County Park.

Highlights of the parade will include the marching bands from Rowland and Nogales High Schools, dance and cheer squads, classic cars and floats from businesses and community organizations.

The parade’s theme this year is “Reaching out to Our Neighbors,” celebrating our multi-cultural community. Trophies for the best band, float, car and other entries will be presented immediately following the parade at the Fall Family Festival at Rowland Heights County Park.

The Buckboard Days Parade is organized by the Rowland Heights Parade Committee and sponsored by Aera Energy, Bob’s Towing, Supervisor Don Knabe, Lewis and Company, and First General Bank.
