Nogales Street grade separation discussed

A Community Meeting to discuss the Nogales Street Grade Separation Project will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Rowland Unified District Office at 1830 S. Nogales St.

The Alameda Corridor-East (ACE) Construction Authority will begin constructing a roadway underpass and railroad bridge at the railroad crossing on Nogales Street between San Jose Avenue and Gale Avenue/Walnut Drive North. The project will require the closure of Nogales Street between San Jose Avenue and Gale Avenue/Walnut Drive North for approximately 24 months of construction.

The following information will be shared by the Alameda Corridor-East Construction Authority at a Community Open House Meeting:
Construction plans/designs
Traffic detour information
Bus stop access
Property Impacts
Environmental Impacts

Before Nogales Street is closed, Gale Avenue and Walnut Drive North will be widened to two lanes in each direction near Nogales Street, portions of San Jose Avenue will be improved, and Otterbein Avenue will be improved as a temporary local detour route with railroad crossing. Upon completion of the project, traffic backups and locomotive horn noise will be sustantially reduced while the potential for collisions at the crossing will be eliminated.
