Carpets, $50,000; plumbing fixtures, $45,000; audio system, $75,000 – completion of the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley, priceless.

The center of Islamic learning is raising money to finish the towering structure off Gale Avenue in Rowland Heights. On Saturday, the center held a fundraising dinner, but much more is needed to complete the wish list above.

When finished, the edifice will become a priceless addition to the local community. For the structure will be much more than a mosque, it will be a community center offering a charter school and medical clinic for people of all races and religions.
