The Kiwanis Club of Hacienda Heights will hold its 43rd annual pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday in VONS shopping center parking lot.
Tickets are $5. The breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, juice or coffee.
This fundraiser provides scholarships for middle and high school students in the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District.
Architect Ken Smith will present a new Rowland Heights project consisting of a five-story, 4-star hotel and shopping center at 8 pm Monday to the Rowland Heights Community Coordinating Council.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in Pathfinder Park with reports from the offices of local officials, followed by reports from the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The council will also hear from Dick Simmons, a representative from Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe and education reports from Rowland Unified and Mt. SAC.

The Mt. San Antonio College Art Gallery will present an exhibit featuring the artwork of former Mt. SAC art professor and art department chairperson Ron Ownbey, “From Mind Thru Hand: A 60-Year Retrospective,” which will run March 13 through April 17 at the campus Art Gallery. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
Sixty years in the making, “From Mind Thru Hand” showcases work that embodies a style described as “embracing the breadth of modern artistic practice.” This survey of Ownbey’s art provides an insight into the man who helped bring the Mt. SAC Art Department into the 21stCentury. Ownbey is credited for the introduction of digital media at the college.
A special opening reception will be held Thursday, March 13, 4 to 6 p.m., in the Art Gallery. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Thursdays,11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Tuesday nights, 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close portions of SR-60 from the San Gabriel River Freeway (I-605) to the Orange Freeway (SR-57) separation, as part of a pavement rehabilitation project. Closures are as follows and subject to change.

Detours will be posted. New pavement will improve mobility and enhance safety for motorists. Flatiron West Inc. is the contractor on this $121.5 million project which is expected to complete fall 2014.
