Highland Century 21 agent arrested in fraudulent real estate deal

A Highland real estate agent who took a down payment on a home and never finalized the sale has been arrested on suspicion of grand theft.

Gregory Adkins, 30, was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga in lieu of $50,000 bail.

A Rancho Cucamonga resident called San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies, saying she was a victim of a fraudulent real estate purchase from Adkins, sheriff's officials said.

Adkins, who was selling homes through Century 21, took the woman's money and didn't finalize the sale. The victim's home then went into foreclosure.

Deputies searched Adkins' home Tuesday and seized evidence related to the case. Deputies suspect there may be more victims. He is wanted by authorities in Riverside County for similar offenses, sheriff's officials said.
