Ducks goalie John Gibson named NHL’s first star of the week

Ducks goaltender John Gibson was named Monday as the NHL’s first star of the week. Gibson, 22, was 3-1-0 with a 0.76 goals-against average and a .968 save percentage plus two shutouts. He had shutout victories over the Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks, the third and fourth of his career. He also stopped 23 shots during the Ducks’ 2-1 victory Sunday over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Nashville defenseman Shea Weber and New Jersey winger Mike Cammalleri were the second and third stars for the week ending Sunday.
