Tuesday Morning Brew...

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabrit.jpg
Good morning...
Hope you don't mind more Britney Spears news with your first sip but this time, the "singer" has gotten herself into a real mess, losing custody of the two boys she should be mothering. She's the lead story on all the newscasts. I'm sure she yearns for the days - like last week - when her most immediate problems were getting ahold of a tampon at a Quiznos or getting lost in Malibu. With the latest development - the judge ordered her to turn to boys over to ex-hubby KFed - comes the big spectacle that starts to get REAL annoying: things like publicity hog Gloria Allred giving a press conference, along with the body guard who testified about Brit's partying and nakedness at home. Said Allred: "I believe it is the shock treatment that Britney Spears needs." TMZ.com reports that Spears had ignored all of the judge's orders in order to retain 50-50 custody: things like drug testing and parenting classes and having a valid driver's license. One thing that Britney DID do immediately was to apply for her California Driver's License on Monday afternoon, taking the written test and posing for her license photo with some unfortunate looking hair weaves...
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaffleckchip.jpgIn other news, in the new issue of Details, Ben Affleck talks about how bad the publicity from his relationship with Jennifer Lopez was for his career and about how much he has riding on his new directorial effort, "Gone, Baby Gone" :I want [the film] to work. Badly. I mean, a sh***y movie comes out on 2,800 screens? I’ve been there and it’s embarrassing.” I'll say. I was at the premiere of "Gigli."...So Jorja Fox will be leaving CBS' "CSI" in November and in an interview with TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, she sounds a little bitter: "A couple of years ago, I decided not to take the raise that was offered to me [which] would've added a year to my contract. At the time, I was feeling a little hurt and angry [about] the firing of myself and the firing of George Eads [in 2004 for not reporting to the set during contract negotiations]. And I wasn't so sure if I wanted to give anybody any extra time. And the raise was terrible, to be frank. An extra year for THAT amount of money? No, thank you."...In happier news, actress Teri Polo, best known for playing Ben Stiller's fiancee then wive in the "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers" movies, is seven months pregnant...Speaking of babies, remember Olympic champion pairs skaters Jaime Salé and David Pelletier? They're the duo who originally were awarded a silver mdeal in the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City but, after a judging scandal, were awarded the gold. Well, anyway, they welcomed their first child on Sunday, a son named Jesse who weighed seven pounds...And speaking of pounds, is Clay Aiken having too many donuts with his morning cup of joe? You decide. Here is a picture of the "American Idol" season two runner-up alum at a book party Monday night in NYC for Jenna Bush’s book "Ana’s Story: A Journey Of Hope."
