I’m off to a slow start with my selections in the Star-News Racing Edition, only five wins in the first four days of Del Mar. But I’m never going to pick as many winners as the other public handicappers. I am a long-shot handicapper, I look for a price and then I strike.
I’ve done well the past two Southland meetings and it’s only a matter of time before some of my long shots start clicking down by the beach. OK .. so for today …
I really have a feeling Alex Solis is going to have a big day, starting with Camisado in the second race for trainer Eoin Harty. I also like Solis in the fifth with Urban King and in the ninth on Exchange Offer, who is dropping back into a sprint and putting blinkers on. And remember what I posted earlier — Solis is doubly dangerous when he rides in the day’s final race, particularly for a guy like Dan Hendricks.
