Jose Silva and jockey Victor Espinoza should be a big winner in the third today at Del Mar.
What a jockey switch — Fernando Valenzuela to the meet’s leading rider, Espinoza. Storming Bronx went seven wide in his last at 29-1 and still finished second in a 12-horse field. He might go off too low to seriously bet separate, but he’s a nice Pick Six and Pick Three single.

Horse racing lost another good one this morning when New Josey Jeff broke down, while conducting a “stewards” work to get off the stewards list for bad antics in his last two races. People who saw the accident stated the horse ambulance couldn’t get to the injured horse as the morning rain wouldn’t allow the ambulance to get onto the turf course. It kept sliding off the embankment, prompting the injured horse having be be walked off the turf course over the dirt course to be loaded in. What a sad situation.
Yeah, DelMar, a very sad situation indeed. These horses are so powerful, yet so fragile, and it’s very sad to see situations like the one you described.
