Closing day at Del Mar

| | Comments (4) |

Wow, it seems like this 43-day Del Mar meet went by way too fast. But let's try to close it out with a couple of nice winners.

I really like two horses a lot today -- Catouttathebag in the second with Espinoza aboard. He's 4-1 on the morning line and, hopefully, he won't get hammered at the windows because of the way Victor has been winning of late. Then in the nightcap, I think one of the great guys in racing, Warren Stute, is going to end the meet with a bang when his Yours Truly finds the winner's circle. She's 10-1 on the morning line, so we should get a price.

Some of the other horses I like today, to a lesser degree:
-- Black Jack Attack and Appointment in the third.
-- Popsicle Gal in the fourth.
-- Tonja's World and Wailea Girl in the sixth. Sise is dynamite with second-time starters (Tonja's World).

Good luck everybody!!

The Del Mar meet could have ended sooner for me! I have had a horrible meeting this year. Time to pack up for Pomona.

Yeah, I went with Popsicle Gal and Tonja's World. Nice picks, Art.

Had a decent meeting. Didn't have to put anything into my TVG account for the meet. Up and down, but ended up a little ahead.

Always look forward to Fairplex. My wife and I have our day planned for the 23rd, so some nice time for playing the races and clogging the arteries with deep-fried-something-or-other.

Also, was glad to read Trevor D. will be calling the Breeder's Cup for ESPN. Maybe now the rest of the country will find out we've got the best race caller, in addition to the best tracks, right here in So Cal.

I don't know why, but I liked Fairplex better when it was the true bullring. I had some NICE winners back in those days.
I will bet a few dollars at the Fair when I'm out there with family and friends, but I'm going to save my serious money for Oak Tree.

Rudy Campas will also be the "King" of the old Pomona. Loved him back in the day on speed horses.
