Breeders’ Cup Sprint

Forget about all those speedballs in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Sprint. I mean, toss out Bordonaro and Henny Hughes, among others, and jump on the REAL winner.

It says here that Siren Lure, with Alex Solis in the saddle, will win the Sprint The 5-year-old gelding has been expertly handled by Art Sherman this year, winning five of six starts, and he hasn’t raced since Aug. 20 when winning the Grade II Pat O’Brien Handicap at Del Mar. Now, you might think it’s not a good thing that Siren Lure will be running his most important race of the year off a 10-week layoff, but this horse absolutely thrives when running fresh. Example: He won the Grade III Los Angeles Handicap on May 13 at Hollywood Park and then, seven weeks later, came back to score in the Grade I Triple Bend Handicap at Hollypark by 1 1/2 lengths. Folks, Mr. Sherman knows what he is doing and he’s got the horse that is going to run them all down in the lane at Churchill Downs.
