Cushion track may be positive thing

| | Comments (0) |

I've heard nothing but superlatives from trainers who are just raving about the new Cushion surface that Hollywood Park will unveil for live racing beginning next Wednesday at the Inglewood oval. Trainers such as Neil Drysdale, Jack Van Berg, Mike Mitchell, et al, are excited about the new surface, which hopefully could turn out to be a huge positive for the industry.

Anything that cuts down on injuries to the horses is a positive, and these new artificial tracks are supposed to do just that. Even Eastern-based trainers like Todd Pletcher, Richard Dutrow and Lisa Lewis will be sending horses to Hollywood Park right after the Breeders' Cup. Stay tuned. It's going to be interesting to see how this all plays out.
