Two on the floor

This long-shot player likes two races today at Santa Anita -- the sixth and the eighth. I'm intrigued by two 6-1 shots in the sixth -- Royal Place, who is taking a nice drop and switching to Garrett Gomez; and Margaritalosflores, another who is dropping and gets regular rider Jon Court. The latter has won twice down the hill in eight starts.

In the nightcap, I don't think I'm going to get the 5-1 odds I need to bet these two horses, but I like Slews the Believer and Hoot. Slews the Believer is dropping and can wire this group, and Hoot is also dropping out of the clouds and cuts back from a mile on the turf at Hollywood Park to 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt in this spot and figures to be rolling in the stretch with Richard Migliore aboard. A nice little exacta could be in the making here. I wouldn't leave either one out in your late pick four.
