Stute filly seeks big score

Quick Little Miss, trained by Glendora resident Mel Stute, will shoot for the first Grade I win of her career Saturday when she goes in the $250,000 Las Virgenes Stakes for 3-year-old fillies. Quick Little Miss, a $40,000 purchase, has earned $288,080. She is co-owned by Stute’s wife, Annabelle, and The Hat Ranch.

“At $40,000, this filly was a bargain,” Stute said. “A mile should be about the perfect distance for her, and winning or placing in a Grade I race would only enhance her value as a broodmare. We’ve already been offered quite a bit of money for her. I have a partner (Dan Schiffer of The Hat Ranch) I’ve been with for a hundred years and they don’t want to sell.”
Quick Little Miss is in tough. The two fillies to beat are Cash Included and Jump On In. Romance Is Diane is another strong contender.
