A child shall teach us

Leave it to a little 5-year-old girl to put life into perspective. On Saturday, after Lava Man became only the third horse to win the Santa Anita Handicap twice, one of the gelding's owners, Jason Wood, told a story about Breeders' Cup Day when the horse suffered one of his most disappointing losses.

Now, mind you, since being claimed by the new owners for $50,000 in August 2004 at Del Mar, Lava Man has won 13 of 24 races and banked a little more than $4.3 million. Try getting that sort of interest from your bank. So after Lava Man finished seventh in the Breeders' Cup Classic, after the race, Wood says to his daughter, "It's too bad Lava Man didn't win." To which little Montana replied, "Dad, he wins A LOT!"
Yeah, leave it to a child to bring us back down to reality.
