Another huge Hollypark carryover?

| | Comments (0) |

The carryover for the pick six at Hollywood Park today was $1.3 million and there will probably be another carryover tomorrow when Hollywood stages a special Monday program. When Bright Prediction pulled an 80-1 shocker in the sixth race Sunday, it almost guaranteed a $3.5 to $4 million carryover for Monday.

Why did Bright Prediction go off at 80-1 and why am I so confident no one bet the 4-year-old gelding in the pick six? Well, he was claimed for $10,000 in his last start by trainer Jesus Mendoza and was running against $40,000 claimers today and also trying the turf for the first time in 23 lifetime starts. The only positives for the horse were that it was ridden by Jorge Chavez and conditioned by Mendoza, who had won with 21 percent of his 24 starters at the meet going in.
