Friday's Del Mar card

I don't like this afternoon's card at Del Mar all that much, but I did notice one horse that caught my eye and should go postward at a decent price. Paulo Lobo, who enjoyed a banner Hollywood Park season but has cooled off some since, will send out J and J Express in the third race -- a $25,000 maiden-claiming event at six furlongs on Polytrack. J and J Express' Beyer figures have been going up steadily since making his debut on June 2 at Hollywood Park and he gets a rider switch today from Delgadillo to Gryder (pictured).

J and J Express is 12-1 on the morning line after going off at 18-1 on July 13 at Hollypark. I don't like the fact he hasn't had a race at Del Mar, but I do like it that he'll most likely be coming from off the pace over a surface that has frowned on speed basically the whole meeting. This 3-year-old Summing colt is improving and should give a big effort today. A couple of long shots in the race include Sur Chi Chi and Prosalate. Overall, looks to me like a race that you can make money.
