Chasing $1.2 million at Santa Anita

Hmmmm .... $1.2 million pick-six carryover at Santa Anita? Guess where I'm going to be today?
But before you get too excited ladies and gents, this is a TOUGH card ... I mean, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if we had a four-day carryover into Wednesday, and wouldn't that send track officials into a frenzied tizzy with anticipation of a record pick-six pool?

I like some horses today, but I'm going to settle on a small ticket because I can't afford the huge ticket I'd need to cover all my bases. Here are a few pick-six key horses I am looking at:

Fifth -- Gula Gold for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. He's going up a notch in class, but he won for $80,000 at Hollywood. Joel Rosario rides, and he's won at a 23-percent clip for Hollendorfer. If you need a single, take a long look at the 4-year-old filly. You could do worse.

Sixth -- Wee Jinky is going to go off at a huge price, but this is a very weak group and the 5-year-old gelding could get out there on the lead and forget to stop. It's happened before in these low-level claimers. Fuji is another long shot who could send pick-six players into disarray. Quiet Period is an interesting play on the outside.

Seventh -- Colony Trick and Devils Martini deserve a look here. You should get good prices on both. I think the horse to beat in this spot is True Suggestion.

Eighth -- I think the Buena Vista is a three-horse race between Costume, Alexandra Rose and Trick's Pic.

Ninth -- Street Royale is my top selection in this high-class maiden event, which includes nine colts that were nominated to the Triple Crown races. Medjool, Tiz Now Tiz Then and No Lien Here are others who could step up and win here.

Tenth -- Another wide-open race in the pick-six sequence. If I was going to play a serious ticket, I'd have to include Roanaway Bride, Pindaric, Formal Rush, Abbey Cat, Trick a Cat and Key Rose. See how wide open I think some of these races are?

A few other non-pick six horses to consider:
Cantabile, Talktoomuch and South African Baby (first), Swift Winds (second), Quiet at the Top and Masterful Miss (third) and Swiss Ski and Daytona (fourth).

Good luck!!!
