Trevor's Clever, with Tyler Baze up, looks ready to give his best effort in the 7-furlong starter allowance race at Santa Anita. The 3-year-old son of Stephen Got Even is 1 for 3 lifetime and Baze knows him well, having been aboard in all his starts.
He can sit right off what should be a good pace and pounce in the stretch. Trainer Ted H. West had been slumping, opening the meet 0 for 15. But he snapped the winless streak with a huge victory Thursday and his barn is ready to get on a roll. I think Trevor's Clever is a strong win-place play.
