Santa Anita cancels Friday card

| | Comments (0) |

Santa Anita president Ron Charles announced Thursday morning that Friday's nine-race card has been canceled in order for track superintendent Richard Tedesco and his crew to finish renovation on the facility's Cushion Track, which has failed to drain properly since installation was completed in August.

Rain that washed out last Sunday's card delayed the reformulation of Santa Anita's main track. Work was originally supposed to begin after the last race Sunday, but workers had to let the track dry and the new polymer binders could not begin to be spread over the surface until Monday.
Friday's cancellation is the 11th of the meet. There had been only eight cancellations total in the Arcadia track's history heading into this 85-day winter-spring meet, which will conclude April 20.
