Trevor's Clever runs third at Santa Anita

| | Comments (1) |

He was flying at the end, but best Trevor's Clever could do was grab third money in the fourth race. Bet down to 5-2 from his 4-1 morning-line price, Trevor's Clever was farther back than I thought he'd be. He was last in the field of nine turning for home when Gomez steered him to the outside and closed strongly.

I dropped a 20-spot on him, thinking he could beat the 7-5 favorite, Tommys Luck. Well, yeah, he beat Tommys Luck but I didn't see 12-1 winner De Car Guy sneaking up and winning the race. Tommys Luck was off the board. I'll live to play another day.
