Alaina Whittaker

At first, I laughed when I first heard Alaina Whittaker yelp: "I can't sing!" I thought she was coming to a realization that she didn't have a good voice. But no, we all saw that she was too emotionally distraught to sing. In support, all the female contestants came out on stage for Alaina's final performance, and it was just so sweet and so cute. (Could this have been produced?)

Personally, I think Alaina did better job singing "Hopelessly Devoted to You" in the elimination show last night than in her first performance -- the show that really counted. Last night's performance had so much more emotion, feeling, heart, and purity. She didn't try to finesse or diva-up the song. Even her big notes were so much better than the first time around.
