80s favorites
When one think's of 80s songs now, it usually is mostly pop or new wave. But I think the contestants did a good job of mixing it up a little on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
What did you think of 80s night? Did the Idol contestants sing your favorite songs?
What theme would you want the contestants to cover in the future? Movies, One-hit wonders....?
I love 80s music. Maybe because I was so influenced by the music when I was just 3. I grew up with Phil Collins and Journey. But I think some of the contestants missed on some of the opportunities to throw more new-wave in. I mean the 80s was when new-wave was born. Some of the guys got it, with Wham! and Simple Minds, but the girls could have had a better chance if they made better song choices. Some songs were just too much for their voices and others not enough. What about Bananarama, Peter Gabriel, The Cure, The Bangles. 'Manic Monday' or 'In Your Eyes' could have done wonders for some of the contestants. I love those songs and if you mess them up then you really are bad.
