Former SBVC kicker starts out strong in Utah

Former San Bernardino Valley College kicker and punter Mike Langston got off to a good start with a solid showing in the home opener for Division II Dixie State in St. George, Utah.

The Red Storm won its season opener last week against Adams State 37-28 with Langston handling all the kicking duties. He connected on his only field goal attempt from 25 yards out in the second quarter giving his team a 10-6 lead.

Langston, a graduate of Ramona High School in Riverside, also averaged 45.8 yards on six punts, downing two of those inside the 20. Three went for more than 50 yards.

He said it felt good to be part of a win again since at SBVC he was part of 15 straight losses.

Another former SBVC player, offensive lineman Thad Quist, is also playing for Dixie State and is rooming with Langston.
