CCAA men’s soccer coaches pick Cal State LA

Defending conference champion Cal State
Los Angeles. and Chico State have been selected to win their respective
divisions in California Collegiate Athletic
Association (CCAA) men’s soccer play this season.

 Cal State
Dominguez Hills, as well as the 2011 CCAA and West Region Champion
Cal State L.A., have both been selected to make an appearance in
the final match-up without a clear winner. 

Sonoma State received three
votes, while UCSD garnered a vote.

Chico State was picked to repeat as the North Division champion
with 55 points and six of the coaches’ first-place
votes.  Sonoma State edged Cal State Stanislaus for second
with 51 points and four first-place votes.  Cal State
Stanislaus was picked to wrap up the 2012 season in third with 45
points, followed by Cal State Monterey Bay in fourth with 32
points.  Humboldt State was selected fifth (20) and Cal State
East Bay (13) was sixth.

Cal State L.A., the defending CCAA tournament champion and NCAA West region champion, was picked to take first in the South
Division after receiving 56 points and seven first-place
votes. 

Cal State Dominguez Hills followed with 53 points and five first-place votes. UC San Diego was third with 41 points, followed by Cal State
San Bernardino with 33 points.

This season, the 2012 CCAA Championship Tournament will be
hosted by Cal State Dominguez Hills Nov. 2-4.

Two CCAA teams are ranked in the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Top 25 Preseason Poll —
Cal State L.A. is ranked No. 8 while Chico State is No. 23.
