A look at this week’s local college football games

Redlands (4-3, 4-1) at Pomona-Pitzer (0-7, 0-5), 1 p.m.

The Bulldogs have gotten on a role and the Sagehens are the latest team in the way. The Sagehens play hard and don’t give up as evidenced by their showing last week against Occidental. But Redlands is a far more formidable foe and should have no trouble here. – Redlands 45, Pomona-Pitzer 14

Chapman (5-2, 4-1) at  Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (0-7, 0-5),  1 p.m.

It’s hard to get a take on the Panthers since they have yet to beat a foe with a winning record. But the Stags are undermanned and struggling so Chapman should chalk up another one. – Chapman 38, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 10.

 La Verne (3-4, 3-2) at  Cal Lutheran (6-1, 5-0),  7 p.m.

The Leopards are much improved but still seeking that signature win. They will have a hard time getting one against a Kingsmen squad that is by far the best team in eh SCIAC right now.  Cal Lutheran 42, La Verne 14

San Bernardino Valley (5-3, 4-1) at Mt. San Jacinto (7-1, 4-1), 1 p.m.,

This one is probably the best game of the day with the Wolverines trying to further thrir cause for a Bowl game. SBVC has the offense but can the defense make enough stops to make the difference. I’m going to say yes, SBVC 45, Mt. San Jacinto 38

San Diego Mesa (3-5, 2-3)  at Chaffey (2-6, 2-3) , 6 p.m.

This is another toss-up game because both teams are struggling. I will go with the hone team on this one.  – Chaffey 28, San Diego Mesa 24

If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by for free food and entertainment. It’s the school’s annual tailgate party starting at 4 p.m.

Victor Valley (2-5, 1-4)  at Southwestern (7-1, 5-0) , 6 p.m. (at Olympian HS)

The Rams have plenty of talent on the offensive side of thje all but they are turnover prone and the defense has been shakey at best. Southwestern can clinch a conference title with a win and should have no trouble doing so.

Southwestern 48, Victor Valley 24
