Redlands player gets SCIAC honor

Junior forward Josiah Brensdal of the University of Redlands men’s basketball team garnered his first-ever Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Male Athlete of the Week honor.

Playing an instrumental role in the Bulldogs’ pair of wins last week, Brensdal helped the squad take over first place in the SCIAC by defeating Cal Lutheran, 67-55, and Pomona-Pitzer, 95-86 in overtime.  He shot a combined 56% on a 15-for-27 effort, highlighted by a 4-for-5 showing from downtown for a total of 34 points.

Additionally, Brensdal grabbed 15 rebounds, dished out five assists, and nabbed four steals in a combined 59 minutes of action.  He is currently tied for second in the SCIAC in rebounding.

Senior forward Makenzie Brandon of the Occidental College women’s basketball team was named the SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week.
