Cal Poly Pomona player best of the week

Cal Poly Pomona’s Jordan Whitman has been named the Rawlings/California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 4-10.

Whitman, a senior outfielder, led the Broncos offense in their four-game split with the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros this past weekend.

The senior outfielder was a combined 8-for-16 from the plate with seven runs scored and six RBI.  He added two walks to his weekend performance for an on-base percentage of .579.

He roped in a slugging percentage of .750 after collecting two extra-base hits, a home run in game-one of Saturday’s doubleheader, followed by a double in the nightcap, to assist the Broncos in securing the 14-2 and 8-0 wins over the Toros.
