Chaffey College freshman advances at track nationals

It was a good day for a local competing in the USA Track and Field Championships at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday.

Freshman Khallifah Rosser of Chaffey qualified for Saturday’s finals in the junior men’s 400-meter hurdles. Rosser, 17, registered the second best time in the field, clocking a 51.80. That was second to only Scottie Hearns of Mississippi State University who competed in the same heat and posted a 50.98.

The Summit High School product will compete at 11:30 a.m. for a national title. Rosser was the California Community College state champion in that event.
