San Bernardino Valley College baseball standout Brandon Kinser is headed to Brigham Young.

Kinser (Pacific HS) helped the Wolverines to their first Foothill Conference title since 2007. He hit .318 with 13 doubles, a home run and a team high 36 RBI. On the mound he went 5-2 with four complete games and four saves and a 3.46 ERA.

He played the outfield and pitched for SBVC but said BYU plans to use him as a closer.

It’s the dream school for Kinser, who is Mormon and completed his sophomore year at SBVC after returning from a mission which he served in Central Florida.

He has spent much of the summer catching up academically because he returned from that mission late in the fall. He is taking 17 units this summer in preparation for his transfer to BYU.
