Long-time Southern California coach Reggie Howard has joined Jeff Oliver’s staff at Cal State San Bernardino and will serve as associate head coach.

Howard, who spent the last five seasons as head coach at Barstow College, owns 22 seasons of coaching experience and 11 at the collegiate level.

The former UC Riverside standout began his collegiate coaching career at CSUSB, helping former head coach Larry Reynolds build the foundation of success that has been emblematic ever since. The Coyotes reached the NCAA tourney in two of his three seasons, capped with their first NCAA regional title in 1999.

After two seasons as an assistant at his alma mater (2000-02), Howard rejoined Reynolds at Long Beach State (2002-07). The 49ers reached the NCAA Tournament in 2007 after sweeping the Big West Conference regular season and tournament titles.

He then spent one season (2007-08) at Mt. San Jacinto College before his five-year stint at Barstow.

“No one has more connections,” Oliver said. “He knows so many people at the Division I level and at the community college level. It has proven very valuable when it comes to recruiting. He has done great things already.”
