Sophomore cross country standout Bryan Hayes earned the first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Male Athlete of the Week award after a strong showing in his season debut.

At the Redlands Invitational on Saturday Hayes completed the six kilometer course in 19:30.90, good for third place overall. He was the top performance among Division III competitors.

A product from Big Bear Lake, Hayes ended the 2012 campaign as an All-West Region and All-SCIAC performer as a freshman and was a member of La Verne’s NCAA Championship qualifying squad.
