The Cal State San Bernardino women’s basketball team will be getting national airtime.

The Coyotes, led by first-year coach Renee Jimenez, will be CBS Sports Network at 11 a.m. on Feb. 15 when they take on Cal State Monterey Bay at the Kelp Bed.

The game also marks the return of Jimenez to CSUMB, where she directed the program to prominence in her five years.  During her tenure, the Otters reached the last three NCAA Tournaments (2011-13), won a CCAA regular-season title (2011) and captured a CCAA Tournament title (2012).

“That our game at CSUMB is one of three Division II women’s basketball games that will be telecast on CBS Sports Network this season is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, not only for both teams, but for the universities and the CCAA,” said Jimenez, who went 97-46 at CSUMB. “I’m always going to have a soft spot in my heart for my wonderful five years there – great teams with a supportive staff, and of course, our student-athletes who worked very hard and accomplished great feats.

“It’s going to make for a great day of college basketball and a welcome homecoming. Our team is looking forward to the game and all that goes along with the event.”

The game is touted as the inaugural Division II Social Media Game. Numerous social media promotions will be built around the game, including special social media team apparel, giveaways and behind-the-scenes access.

“It will be a memorable day for Renee and our team,” Director of Athletics Dr. Kevin Hatcher said. “We are honored to be chosen as one of six teams to play on CBS Sports Network this season. I know coach will have her team well prepared for a game that promises to be memorable in many ways.”

The Coyotes open the season Nov. 7 in an exhibition game at Loyola Marymount. The Jimenez-led Coyotes make their home debut against UC San Diego on Nov. 17.
