Former Cal Poly Pomona hoopster an All-Star overseas

Larry Gordon

Former Montclair High School and Cal Poly Pomona basketball standout Lary Gordon has been selected to the German BBL all-Star team.

The All-Star game will be held on Jan. 18 in Bonn, Germany. Gordon will be busy at the event as he’ll be a participant in the Slam Dunk and Three-Point Competitions before competing in the actual game.

Gordon has been playing professionally for five years. He is in his second season with Phoenix Hagen, the highest level team in Germany. He leads the league in rebounding (7.6 pg) and ranks sixth in scoring.

Gordon was one of the most decorated student-athletes, having played for the Broncos from 2005 through 2009. During that time, he tallied more than 1,500 points, 900 rebounds, 125 steals and 45 blocks. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and was a four-time All-CCAA performer.

To top things off, Gordon was named a 2009 All-American after leading the Broncos to the NCAA Division II National Championship game. A West Covina native, Gordon trains at CPP’s Kellogg Gym during the summer months.
