CMS player gets weekly honor

Basketball player Kimberly Scamman of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is the SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week for Dec. 30 – Jan. 5.

Scamman averaged 18.7 points and 8.7 rebounds as CMS went 2-1 on the week. She had a double-double in the team’s 72-58 win over Grinnell on Dec. 31 with 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.

She scored at least 18 points in each game and also had seven assists and 12 steals while shooting 25-29 (86.2%) from the line. In a 60-51 win over Hamline on Dec. 30 she had 19 points. She also had 19 points in the team’s loss to Chapman on Jan. 4.

The junior from Northridge is ranked in the top 10 in the SCIAC in scoring and rebounding along with assists and leads the conference in steals (33) and free throws made (77). This season Scamman has averaged 15.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists, all team highs.

CMS is back in action on Jan. 9 with a conference game at La Verne.
