Cal Poly Pomona’s Jada Blackwell has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 13-19.
The junior post player earned her second athlete of the week nod after lifting the nationally-ranked Broncos to two road wins, at Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills.
The Etiwanda High graduate recorded weekend-high totals of 17 points, 16 rebounds, and four blocks in Friday’s 86-70 victory against the Golden Eagles. The following night Blackwell scored 13 points on 54.5 percent (6-for-11) from the floor, while making one-of-two attempts from the free throw line. In addition she snagged 12 rebounds and had two blocked shots in the Broncos 64-53 win over the Toros.
