Former Citrus College Men’s Basketball player DJ Shelton has been picked up by the Atlanta Hawks to play with their NBA Summer League team.

Shelton, a Rialto native, made his NBA Summer League debut over the weekend, in Atlanta’s 90-74 loss to the Washington Wizards on Saturday.

Shelton played one season for the Owls during the 2010-2011 season. Shelton averaged 12 points and 6.7 boards a game, in helping lead Citrus to the CCCAA State Championship Game against City College of San Francisco.

After his freshman campaign with Citrus, Shelton moved on to Washington State, where he became one of the top players for the Cougars over the past three seasons. Shelton wrapped up his 2013-2014 senior season by averaging over 10 points and 9 boards a game. During Pac-12 play, Shelton averaged a double-double with 11.2 points and 10.4 rebounds a contest.
