Cal State women’s soccer team earns ranking

One year after finishing its best season in school history, the Coyotes will begin the 2014 season ranked in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II preseason poll.

The Coyotes made the cut at No. 17. Fellow CCAA member Cal State Stanislaus also mades the cut at No. 11.

CSUSB earned just its second NCAA Tournament appearance in school history in 2013 and went on to finish in the Round of 16, falling to Western Washington in the NCAA West Region final.

.Cal State boasted a young team last year and returns most of roster including sophomore Kiana Quarles, the CCAA Freshman of the Year in 2013.

The most notable absence is that of graduated goalkeeper Chelsey Jones.

The Coyotes open the 2014 season Sept. 4 at Academy of Art.
