The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released it NCAA Division III Top-25 Preseason Poll and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is checking in at No. 19.
The Athenas ended 2013 – the best season in school history –ranked 24th in the final poll of the year after a 25-7 record and an NCAA postseason appearance.
Fellow SCIAC member Cal Lutheran, the defending conference champion, is No. 6. Pomona-Pitzer didn’t crack the poll but did receive votes.
The Athenas begin play in 2014 on Aug. 29 with a pair of matches in the Pacific Coast Classic which CMS co-hosts. CMS’ home matches in 2014 and throughout the duration of the Roberts Pavilion construction will be played at Harvey Mudd College’s Linde Activities Center.
